About Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb

Jamali Kamali Mosque is a mosque situated in Delhi. It is a combination of two monuments one of which is a mosque while the other is the tomb of Jamali and Kamali. It was constructed in the period from 1528-1529 and Jamali was buried in 1535. The place is 18 kilometers away from the Indira Gandhi International Airport, 17 kilometers away from New Delhi Railway Station while it's 16 kilometers from the Nizamuddin Railway Station. You can arrive here by taking a metro where the last station to reach the mosque is Qutab Minar and just take a small walk to reach your destination. It is just 500 meters away from Qutab Minar. The mosque is open throughout the week but Friday prayers are not allowed in the place. There is no entry fee here. The site is now protected by the Archaeological Survey of India.

After hearing the name of the mosque the question that comes to mind is that who was Jamali and Kamali. Jamali was a Sufi-saint at the time of the Lodi Dynasty and the Mughal Dynasty, He was a popular poet and was appointed as the court poet at the time of the Lodi Dynasty. He also got royal treatment during Babur and Humayun's reign. While Kamali was Jamali's disciple and was also his lover. Some people say that both were males but their graves were put in a manner that visitors can estimate that they were lovers. It could also be estimated that though Kamali's name sound masculine but she was a female and was the wife of Jamali. She died earlier and Jamali who was a royal poet built a tomb in memory of his beloved wife.
There is also a lush green park inside the premises of the mosque where the kids play in the daytime and elder people take a walk.
Though the mosque has its own archaeological value it is also famous for being haunted. Some people claim that they have seen apparitions, while others felt there is someone who is peeking at them behind a pillar. Also, some of the people were slapped by an invisible person.
There are also claims of weird sounds and instance sighting of the lights due to which people prefer to stay away from the mosque at the night and believe that Jinns live in the mosque. There is also only one guard in the mosque who is sitting at the gate.
According to the guard of the place, all these stories are myth which some people has made just for their own profit or just gaining public attention. The visit inside the tomb is not allowed not because of jinn but to protect the monument as before when it was allowed visitors have written their names in every step of the staircase. It is suggested while visiting any monument like this please take care of your national heritage and keep the beauty of the place maintained so that the future generation can know about our past.
