About Mosque Cathedral of Cordoba
The Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba is a Cathedral located in the Andalusia region of Spain. It got such a unique name as it was an Islamic mosque at a time. According to history, there was a Visigothic church at the site and it was converted into a mosque during the rule of Al-Andalus. The Great Mosque was made in 785 CE on the order of Abd ar-Rahman I. It was again converted into a cathedral when the city was conquered by Christian forces in 1236. The summer opening timings are 10:00 am to 7:00 pm while winter timings are 10:00 am to 6:00 pm from Monday to Saturday. Sunday and other holidays timings are 8:30 -11:30 am and 3:00 - 6:00 pm.
