About Hajj
Hajj is an Islamic pilgrimage and it is mandatory to every Muslim who is physically and financially capable to perform hajj once in their lifetime. It is associated with the life of Islamic prophet Muhammad but pilgrimage belongs to the time of Abraham.
Some Lesser Known Facts About Hajj
- According to the Muslim belief, every Muslim must visit the holy city of Mecca once in his/her lifetime. It is one of the five pillars of Islam which also includes Zakat, Sawm, Salat, and Shahadah.
- Before you plan to perform Hajj, you must know the fact that it takes place in the Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah for two months and ten days after the end of Ramadan.
- All the rituals like to wear special garments for Hajj, a circular, counter-clockwise procession around the kaaba and the last but not least is to stone the evil must be performed to complete the journey.

- If you have seen any photograph of Hajj, you have noticed a cube-shaped structure covered with black silk. It is Kaaba which is the most sacred shrine of Islam and main aim of performing the Hajj is to see and worship the structure.

- If you visited the place, you must know about a black stone which is covered with a silver ring in the eastern corner of Kaaba. According to the Muslim belief, it is the stone which is given by the angel Gabriel to Abraham. The pilgrims also touch and kiss the stone to end the ceremony around the Kaaba.

- The person performing Hajj must be proud of their journey. Also some of them add phrase al-Hajj or hajji to their names.
- Although it is the most sacred place but subject to various devasting incidents killing various devotees which should be prevented.
