Mathura Masjid is a seventeenth-century mosque built by Aurangzeb. It remains in news due to its location adjacent to the Krishna Janambhumi in Mathura. The mosque could be visited anytime without any ticket price. But according to Muslim traditions, Females and non-muslims are not allowed inside the mosque. The place is evidence of unity in diversity which is a pride of India. It is an important place for both Hindus and Muslims as Muslims offer their namaz while Hindus worship the land as the birthplace of Lord Krishna.

- Hindus claim that the mosque is made by Aurangzeb after demolishing the Hindu temples. They also filed a plea in the court stating that the original holy place where Lord Krishna took birth is inside the mosque and the land must be given to Hindus.
- According to the sources, Aurangzeb was annoyed due to the murder of his official Abdul Nabi Khan in 1670. He ordered the demolition of the Keshavdeva temple and built this mosque in its place.
- Muslims who are offering namaz at the place for more than three centuries are also attached to their place of worship and are not ready to lose their mosque.
- On the other hand, the order of survey by a team of Archaeological Survey of India at Gyanvapi Masjid raised hopes in the hearts of Hindus to regain possession of the property. They are demanding a similar survey at the place and the case is pending at the Mathura local court.
