The 2nd Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri whose tenure was only for one and a half years but made such an impression in the eyes of people of India that country remember him with great respect even today.

Career of Lal Bahadur Shastri
He joined India's freedom struggle inspired by the words of Gandhi Ji and many times sent to jail due to active participation in the movements like Non-cooperation, Namak Satya Grah. After Independence, he became a senior leader of the Indian National Congress political party. He had taken many responsibilities as a minister like Parliamentary Secretary in his home state, Uttar Pradesh. He was made Minister of Railways in First Cabinet of the Republic of India. After the death of Jawahar Lal Nehru, he took a charge of Prime Minister until his death.
