Career of Atal Bihari Vajpayee
He joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh as a volunteer in 1939. In 1957, he won the Balrampur seat of Lok Sabha. In 1977, when Morarji Desai held the office of Prime Minister, he had given the responsibility of the Minister of External Affairs. In the 1996 election, he became the Prime Minister of India but could not garner the majority in his favor and had to resign after 13 days. The second time he became the Prime Minister in 1998 but after 13 months All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) withdraw its support as the result the Lok Sabha was dissolved. In 1999 general election, he became Prime Minister of India once again.
