Smriti Irani is a producer, politician and television actress. She is one of the members of Parliament. Recently she is the Information and Broadcasting and Textiles Minister in the Government of India. She has three elder sisters. She got fame from the Ekta Kapoor's television serial 'Kynki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi'. She also participated in the beauty pageant Miss India 1998 and was one of the finalists.

She was born as Smriti Malhotra on 23 March 1976 in Dehli. Her mother Shibani was a Bengali and her father Ajay Kumar Malhotra was a Punjabi Khatri. From her childhood, she was the part of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). From Holy Child Auxilium School she completed her school in Dehli. Later she attends the University of Dehli.

Smriti Irani started her career with participating in the beauty pageant Miss India 1998 in which she was the finalist later She appeared in song 'Boliyan' from the album 'Saawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag' along with Mika Singh. She gave her first tv debut with the tv serial 'Aatish and Hum Hain Kal Aaj Aur Kal' both came on Start plus. His famous and longest serial was 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' as tulsi which was made by Ekta Kapoor. After tv, she joins the parliament and became one of the members of Parliament.

She got many awards like she got five Indian Television Academy Awards (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2010), also got three Indian Telly Awards ( 2002, 2003, and 2007).
