After leaving the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, he started training as a wrestler and his first match was in 1971, in Phoenix, Arizona. He and his brother Sika formed a tag team called The Wild Samoans. Their team wrestled for the Canadian Stampede Wrestling promotion and for many National Wrestling Alliance. They joined World Wrestling Federation. They also challenged Bob Backlund for the WWF Heavyweight Championship many times. After leaving WWF he started training wrestlers at his Wild Samoan Training Facility with his brother Sika.
