He was a Canadian professional ice hockey player, was born on 31st March 1928. He matured very quickly, when he was 15 years old he made a wipe that he wanted to play with the New York Rangers. He made his NHL debut in 1946 when he was 18, in which he played 26 seasons from 1946-1980. He gets married to Colleen on 15th April 1953. He first met his wife at a bowling alley when he was 17 years old. He was so dedicatedly to his career. He had 500 stitches on his face.

He was an insidious player, in 1943 when he was 15 years old he started playing hockey. At the age of 18, he started his NHL career in 1946, in which he played 26 seasons. In the history of the sport, he was remembered as the best player. He gets two times retirement from his professional career, once in 1971 and the other was in 1980. He was honored on 10th April 2007 with the disclosing of a new bronze statue in Joe Louis Arena, and also made an entrance with the name of Gordie Howe entrance. Afte death of his wife, he started a charitable activity in partnership with the University of Toronto's, for the people who are infected with the same disease ( degenerative diseases) which his wife had.
