He started his career with a minor ice hockey team playing at Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments. He signed with Chicago Blackhawks in 1984 and made his NHL debut in October of the same year. He made his first NHL goal in his first match. He was traded to Toronto Maple Leafs in 1987 and to the New York Rangers in 1992. He joined Winnipeg Jets in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.
