After getting popularity in student politics he moved towards Chilean politics. He participated in 2013 parliamentary election as an independent candidate. He became a member of the Chamber of Deputies in March 2014. He was elected as a president of Chile on December 19, 2021 and will assume the office on March 11, 2022.
