Career of Jim McGreevey

He participated in the 1997 election for the governorship of New Jersey but was defeated by Christine Todd Whitman. In 2001, he again tried his luck and won this time by 56% votes in his favor. He came out to be gay in 2004 and resigned from the post of governor afterward.

McGreevey became a subject of criticism when he Israeli national Golan Cipel as a homeland security adviser. Later on, it came out that Cipel is his secret lover and he didn't have any experience and qualifications required for the position.
The politician announced publicly of him being gay and said he would resign the governorship on November 15, 2004. He is the first governor in the history of the United States who openly announced himself as gay.
McGreevey has also authored a book in association with ghostwriter David France. It is a memoir named "The Confession". He also appeared in " The Oprah Winfrey Show" to promote his book.

He also used the word "Machiavelli" while conversing with Halper which was a code word made by D'Amiano to assure Halper that his money would provide him preferential treatment in a dispute over his land.
He was also involved with Charles Kushner who went to jail for providing financial support for the governor and other political figures. McGreevey was said to be facilitating ventures to profit Kushner.
