- When Andrew Johnson was 3 years old then his father died and his mother remarried. His mother send him and his brother to the indentured servant to a tailor named James Selby. But after 2 years they have been a runaway from their bond. Selby gives news in newspaper that whoever found them will get a reward of $10 but they never captured.
- Andrew Johnson never attended the school. He learned himself to read and after running from that tailor shop he and his brother have opened their own tailor shop to make money.
- Andrew Johnson married to a shoemaker girl named as Eliza McCardle on may 17, 1827. Eliza was quite educated or help Andrew Johnson to improve his reading and writing skills.
- When Andrew Johnson opened his tailor shop he was only 19 and at the age of 22, he was elected as the mayor of Greeneville Tennessee. He worked as mayor for 4 years.
