She performed as a stand-up comedian when she was 17. She joined Saturday Night Live as a writer and featured player but was fired after 18 weeks. She had a starring role in the HBO sketch comedy series Mr. Show. Her film Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic was released in 2005. Her television sitcom The Sarah Silverman Program started in February 2007.
