He started his career in 1985 as a standup comedian. He hosted the shows like Showtime at the Apollo and The Steve Harvey Show. He gained popularity with his appearance as Steve Hightower in his self-titled show. He also worked in the films like Love Don't Cost a Thing, You Got Served, and Still Singing. Some of his other credits are Steve, Steve on Watch, NFL Honors, and Family Feud.
