Luther Adler was born on May 4, 1903, in New York City. His father Jacob P. Adler is one of the founders of the Yiddish theater in America. He has total six siblings and his siblings also worked in the theater. His sister gets fame because her sister is an actress and also a drama teacher and brother become famous as an actor.
Early Life of Luther Adler
In 1908 he got his first acting job from his father in the Yiddish play, Schmendrick, at the Thalia Theatre in Manhattan and that time he was just 5 years old.The first broadways play of his are Street Scene in 1929, Monkey Talks in 1925, The Hand of the Potter in 1921, Money Business and We Americans in 1926, and Humoresque in 1923.
Career of Luther Adler
He became the member of the Group Theatre in New York which is made by the three-person Lee Strasberg, Cheryl Crawford, and Harold Clurman in 1931. This theater collectively has made 20 productions and for 10 years they last. They become the inspiration for the upcoming actors, directors, and playwright. In 1933 he joins the Katherine Cornell Company and plays in 'Alien Corn' opposite to the Cornel after working he move back to his theater and make a play with his sister Stella 'Gold Eagle Guy' but this becomes not so famous.
He starts appearing in movies in 1937 as acting is his never priority. There are some of his credits that include The Desert Fox: The Story of Rommel (1951) (where he played a convincing Adolf Hitler (1889 - 1945)), Absence of Malice (1981), Wake of the Red Witch (1948), M (1951), House of Strangers (1949), and D.O.A. (1950). He also appeared on such television programs named are General Electric Theater, Robert Montgomery Presents, anthology series, Kraft Television Theater and so on.
