Some Lesser Known Facts About E. E. Cummings
- From the age of 8 to 22 he always writes the poems. Later he worked as book dealer after graduation.
- He once arrested by the French authorities during first world war for three months on suspicion of espionage and undesirable activities but later he was released on December 19, 1917.
- He starts writing from very early age and was also the editor of the Harvard monthly. His works and poems were published in the magazines. In 1925 his first collection of poems was released whose name was 'Tulips and Chimneys'.
- Due to his uncommon punctuation and phrasing, his poems are famous. He always does the experiments with his syntax, spellings and phrases.
- The death of his father put a very deep effect on his life. He also wrote one poem named 'my father moved through dooms of love' after his father death. Due to this effect, a new phase of his life start and make him an artist and writer.
- He has written around 2900 poems, four plays, two autobiographical novels, draws many paintings and drawings and done many plays.
- The famous painting of his was 'CIOPW'. The name come from the five things from which it has been made and that are charcoal, ink, oil, pencil, and watercolors. This painting contains the 99 works of which 72 are paintings and 27 are drawings.
