Career of Tony Abbott

He became Minister of Employment Services in the 1998 elections and was promoted to cabinet in 2001. He served as Minister of Health and Ageing from the 2003 to 2007 election. He became the leader of the Opposition in 2009 after defeating Malcom Turnbull. He became the Prime Minister of Australia in September 2013 serving his term until September 2015 when he was defeated by Malcom Turnbell in a vote for the Liberal leadership. He was defeated in the 2019 election by an independent candidate Zali Steggall.
