- When she born her parents were not married. And her father refused to acknowledge his paternity towards her when she was a kid. Despite this she has one sister, five half sisters and one-half brother; from the same father but the mothers are different.
- In 1966 Rekha acted in a Telugu Film as a child actress, the movie named "Rangula Ratnam".
- She had to drop her studies for her acting career, which was due to her family's financial condition; she was forced to do B and C grade films to help her family financially.
- In the initial stage of her career she was referred as an ugly duckling for her appearance, the fact was revealed by herself in an interview that this was all due to her dark complexion but instead of getting depressed she transformed herself totally and her struggle did not go in vain, people actually appreciated the new side of her personality.
