About Meera Chopra

Meera Chopra aka Nila is an actress of Indian film Industries. She is cousin of Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra. She started her career in 2005 from Tamil Movie "Anbe Aaruyire" produced, directed and starred by SJ Syrya, movie remained successful on Box Office. After that she worked in 15 to 20 south Indian films including Tamil, Telugu and Kannar, finally made her debut in bollywood with "Gang of Ghosts" directed by Satish Kaushik. Unfortunately movie did not do well at box office. Her next Hindi movie Vikram Bhatt's "1920 London" released in 2016, again this movie got very negative critics reviews.

Early Life of Meera Chopra

Meera Chopra was born in Delhi, in a Punjabi Family. She has a brother and a sister.
She completed schooling and graduation from Delhi and masters in Mass Communication from Saginaw Valley State University, US.
She came back to Delhi and started working with NDTV, while working she got offer from Director S. J. Surya for his Tamil movie "Anbe Aaruyire", she accepted it and in this way started her career with South Indian Films.

In 2011, Meera Chopra lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police for receiving vulgar mails and photos from a person. After some days of it, she was accused in murder charges by Shifali in murder case of her sister Ruchi. She alleged that her brother-in-law Sumeet Puttan and Meera were in relationship, so Sumeet murdered his wife and turned it to suicide.

Indian Film Director S. J. Suryah discover the Indian beauty when he saw her in a magazine. He offered her Tamil movie "Anbe Aaruyire". Chopra grab this opportunity as it was a big Budget movie and starrer by Suryah himself and Music was given By A.R Rahman. The movie released in 2005 and was a big successful at the box office.
SJ Syrya who discovered Meera changed her name to Nila (meaning moon, in Tamil). In South Indian Cinema, she is known as Nila.
She is second cousin of Priyanka Chopra and Pariniti Chopra, as her father and Priyanka's father were first cousins. She is more close to Priyanka than Parineeti. Priyanka is also her inspiration.
Although she started her career from South Indian movies, but she is more interested in Hindi Cinema. She stated in her one of interview, "Movies in the south are undoubtedly well-paid, but the roles they provide are certainly quite monotonous".
She has also shown interest in Punjabi films and wants to work there. She herself also belongs to a Punjabi Family.
