She was an American film and stage actress was born on 27th November 1905, in South Manchester, Connecticut, USA. She is so fond of singing since her childhood. At her very early age, she moved to Springfield, Massachusetts with her family. She went New York to pursue her singing career but there she took admission in business college and started working there after completing her study in business college. She got married to Robert Kent on 9th January 1937, they had 1 child but their marriage not lasted for long and they got a divorce in 1940, later she got married to Charles O. Fee on 30th November 1941, they had two children, and they stay together till her death.

She was so fond of singing, she started her singing career at her very early age. For the first time, she gave her professional singing performance at the age of thirteen. Because of her singing talent, she was offered a scholarship to the Boston Conservatory of Music, but she refused this offer and pursued it from her hometown. She had done several movies, some of her well known movies are: Lady with a Past (1932), The Girl From Calgary (1932), Servants' Entrance (1934), Hands Across the Table (1935), Charlie Chan's Secret (1936), Venus Makes Trouble (1937), Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), The Lone Wolf Strikes (1940), City of Missing Girls (1941), No Hands on the Clock (1941), Melody for Three (1941) and so on.
