Michael Arata who began his acting career when he was four was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, the United States on February 23, 1966. He had a degree in law from Tulane University and he conducts seminar relating to entertainment law at Loyola University and Tulane University in New Orleans within a short break. He was very lucky as he gets the chance of working with Oliver Stone, Gene Hackman, Kevin Costner, Ellen Burstyn and Sissy Spacek.

Besides acting and producing he also has experience in theater. He indulges in the production line in 1989 with a short film "Looking For Someone" and this film won Grand Jury Award for Best Narrative Short at the Utah Short Film Festival. After that, he produced documentaries such as "The People's Story". "Deal", starring Burt Reynolds, "The Shooting Gallery", starring Freddie Prinze Jr. and Ving Rhames, "Home Front" starring Tatum O'Neal, and "New Orleans Mon Amour", starring Christopher Eccleston are some of his recent feature films. He was Raines in Runaway Jury in 2003. In 2004, he worked in three TV Movie and five movies which are The Madam's Family: The Truth About the Canal Street Brothel (TV Movie) as Bobby, The Brooke Ellison Story (TV Movie) as Paramedic, The Dead Will Tell as Desk Sergeant, Growing Pains: Return of the Seavers as Exterminator, Torn Apart as Bingham, Ray as Cop #4, Miracle Run as Brian Infidelity (TV Movie) as Eric. And in 2005, he was Chris in, At last, Dave Larson in Odd Girl Out, Captain Hart in Faith of My Fathers and was as Lawyer Type in Shooting Gallery. In 2006, he had done a number of films which are A Perfect Day, Déjà Vu, Life Is Not a Fairytale: The Fantasia Barrino Story (TV Movie), Just My Luck. He was a Lawyer in the movie'K-Ville' in 2007. In Deal, he was a Passerby in 2008. In 2009, he performed Louis Devereaux in Night of the Demons. One TV movie Ricochet as Defense Attorney Adams and Five movies Carjacked, The Pool Boys, Love, Wedding, Marriage, Blood Out and Lucky as Trucker, Doug's Dad, Cheap Bastard, Detective and Man with Piña Colada was done by him in 2011. He was Uniformed Cop in The Courier of 2012. In 2013, he had worked in Another Dirty Movie as Lawyer and a TV Movie Remember Sunday as Mr. Zed. He had also served as chairman of the Bring Back New Orleans Commission after Hurricane Katrina.
