Lew Ayres full name Lewis Frederick Ayres III was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the U.S. on December 28, 1908. His parents separated when he was only four years old. He was married to actress Lola Lane on 15 September 1931 but taken divorce from her on 3 February 1933 after that he met actress Ginger Rogers while shooting for the film 'Don't Bet on Love' and marry her 14 November 1934 also separated from her on 20 March 1941. On 7 February 1964, he marries Diana Hall also has one child with her.He died in sleep on December 30, 1996, in Los Angeles, California, The USA after being in a coma fo r several days.

He left his school before completing his graduation and started a small band. He played banjo and guitar for big bands like Henry Halstead.

In the same year he had worked in Common Clay, East Is West, The Doorway to Hell. In 1931 and 1932 Iron Man and Night World. State Fair and My Weakness in 1933. Performed in Servants' Entrance in 1934. His work was seen in Spring Tonic and The Silk Hat Kid in 1935. In 1936 he had worked in three films namely Murder with Pictures, Panic on the Air, Shakedown. That Navy Spirit and Hold 'em Navy in 1937. He had worked in Four movies in 1938 which are Holiday, Young Dr. Kildare, King of the Newsboys and Rich Man, Poor Girl. The Ice Follies of 1939, Broadway Serenade, Calling Dr. Kildare, These Glamour Girls, The Secret of Dr. Kildare, Dr. Kildare Goes Home, Dr. Kildare's Crisis, The Golden Fleecing was some films of 1941. In 1942, he had worked in Dr. Kildare's Victory and Fingers at the Window. The Dark Mirror in 1946 and much more like The Unfaithful, The Way of Peace, No Escape etc.

He had worked in many television shows like The Ford Show with Tennessee Ernie Ford, The DuPont Show with June Allyson as Howard Moon in "A Thief or Two", The Barbara Stanwyck Show as Dr. Paul Harris in "Adventure on Happiness Street", The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Salem's Lot.
