American actor John Aylward was born in Seattle, Washington, U.S. on November 7, 1946. His schooling is done from St. Joseph's Grade school and Prep High School. Took the graduate degree from Garfield High School in 1965 and attended Professional Actor's Training Program at the University of Washington in 1970. He was among the founders of Seattle's Empty Space Theatre.

He worked as a company member of the Seattle Repertory Theatre for 15 years before pursuing an acting career. His contribution in the field of acting is The Secret Life of John Chapman as Grady which was a TV show in 1976. In 1987, he was seen in Stamp of a Killer. He was a Taxi Driver in the film Seven Hours to Judgment which was released in 1988. In 1989, he had worked in TV show Third Degree Burn as Lomax and also in Three Fugitives as Second Cop. In 1990, his performance was seen in 'Child in the Night' as Dr. Wendt and in TV series which started in 1990 to 1992 Northern Exposure as Charles 'Red' Murphy. In 1992, he worked in With a Vengeance as Lesonsky. As Niles in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III in 1993. Ink, 3rd Rock from the Sun and Eden in 1996. In 1997, he has worked in two TV series Grace Under Fire and The Escape and also in Buddy. His performance was seen in Find in Graceland, Armageddon, Creature, From the Earth to the Moon, The Victim in 1998. And much more which includes Scorpion, A Million Ways to Die in the West, Gangster Squad, The Whole Truth, The Celestine Prophecy etc.
