He played college basketball for the University of Maryland. He joined the Phoenix Suns in the 2013 NBA draft and played his first professional game against the Utah Jazz. He again played for the same team in the next season and earned 11 points and 10 rebounds. He averaged 10.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game for the 2015 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas in five games in 2015.
