He started his career as a tenor singer for Columbia Records in 1914 and in 1915, his duet "Hello Frisco!" with Elida Morris from the Broadway musical Ziegfeld Follies was admired by people. He had a lead role on Broadway show operetta Katinka. "America, I Love You" is one among his most commercially successful recordings. He was regular on Broadways shows like Doing Our Bit, Monte Cristo, Jr., and Oh, What A Girl!
In 1929, he appeared in film Unmasked as a suspect. He had done many small roles in films. He portrayed the role of one of the detectives seeking the murderer in Mad Love, starring Peter Lorre. He also appeared in film serials like Dick Tracy, The Masked Marvel, and Captain America. He gave his performance in near about two hundred and five films from 1929 to 1953.
