He met Andre 3000 when he was in high school and signed with LaFace Records. After getting success as the duo, his solo album "Speakerboxxx" under the Outcast name. His mixtape album "Got Purp? Vol 2" was released in the year 2005. He signed a record deal with Epic Records in the year 2014.
