Eileen Atkins, an English Actress who worked in films, stage, and television consistently since 1953 was born in London, England on 16 June 1934. She is also an occasional screenwriter her full name is Dame Eileen June Atkins. She belongs to a very poor family. Her parents worked very harder to earn a living. Her mother worked as a barmaid and her father served Portuguese Ambassador as under-chauffeur. But as an under chauffeur, he does not know how to drive a car his only work is to clean the car. She was married to Julian Glover in 1957 but after a few year, she took divorce with him in 1966, after that she married Bill Shepherd in 1978 and he died last year in 2016.She has also worked as CBE means Commander of the Order of the British empire in 1990 and as DBE Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2001.

Career of Eileen Atkins
She started working professionally in panto in Clapham and Kilburn. When she was 12, a woman finances her education and she was sent to Parkside Preparatory School in Tottenham. From there she went to a Grammer school called The Latymer School, in London where she met Rev. Michael Burton who introduced her to the work of William Shakespeare. In 1952 she joins as a professional actress Guild Players Repertory Company in Bangor, County Down, Northern Ireland Harvey, Love's Labour's lost are some of her act on the stage. In 1957 She joined Royal Shakespeare Company and worked in Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet(lady), Richard III, Exit the king (Juliette) and much more.
In radio, she also has a guest appearance in The Archers which is a long time running soap in BBC Radio 4's. Her character was Maggie Clayhanger in Arnold Bennett's. She appeared as Joan of arc in An age of kings. The concept of the award-winning ITV series Upstairs, Downstairs was created by her with Jean Marsh. Sons and Lovers (1981), Oliver Twist (1982), Titus Andronicus (1985), (2000), Wit (2001) and Bertie and Elizabeth (2002), Cold Mountain (2003), What a Girl Wants (2003), Vanity Fair (2004), Ballet Shoes (2005) and Ask the Dust (2006) are some of her TV series and films. She played a central role of Miss Deborah Jenkyns in BBC One drama Cranford in 2007. In BBC two black comedy Psychoville her role as an evil nurse named Edwina Kenchington in 2009. The blockbuster movie Robin Hood which was released in the UK in May 2010, she appeared as Eleanor of Aquitaine in it. She had a starring role of Lady Spence in The Scapegoat in September 2012.
