Betty started acting on Broadway in 1938. She then turned towards film line in 1949 with her role as Shoo Shoo O'Grady in Big City. Her first television work was in The Best of Anything .She is widely known for her part as Irene Lorenzo on All in the Family (1971). She is also recognized for her role as Edna Babish on Laverne & Shirley (1976).
