Silent film actress Adrienne Ames was born Ruth Adrienne McClure on August 3, 1907. She had five brothers and sister. She was married in 1925 to Derward Dumont Truax but took divorce in 1928, after having one child. After that Stephen Ames became her husband on 21 August 1929 and they got divorced on 30 October 1933. Next day, she married Bruce Cabot and also gets divorced with him on 6 April 1937. She died at the age of 40 on May 31, 1947, due to cancer.

Her first role was as a stand-in for Pola Negri. And got the role in silent movies just after that. She had a small part in the film Sally. She got the role in five films in 1931 which were Road to Reno, 24 Hours, Girls About Town, Working Girls, Husband's Holiday. Five films in Two Kinds of Women as Jean Mars, Sinners in the Sun as Claire Kinkaid, Merrily We Go to Hell as Claire Hempstead, Guilty as Hell as Vera Marsh, The Death Kiss as Marcia Lane.
In 1933, five of her movies were released which were From Hell to Heaven as Joan Burt, Broadway Bad as Aileen, A Bedtime Story Paulette, Disgraced! as Julia Thorndyke, The Avenger as Ruth Knowles. She had worked in six films in 1935 as Kay Parrish in Gigolette, as Mrs. Millicent Caldwell Bath in Black Sheep, as Betty Randolph in Woman Wanted, as Adele Michel in Ladies Love Danger, as Therese Alder in Abdul the Damned and as Jane McDowell in Harmony Lane. In 1938 her performance was seen in City Girl and Fugitives for a Night as Vivian Ross and Eileen Baker and also as Helen Meme. Helene Smith in Slander House. She was Lia Maing in Panama Patrol and was Susan in The Zero Hour both were released in 1939.
