He put his first step into the acting career with the movie "Sunehra Sansar" but got fame with the film "Baghban". He appeared as a villain in several movies such as Howrah Bridge, CID, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, An Evening in Paris and more in the 40s and 50s. He appeared in the films Jhoota Kahin Ka, Haathi Mere Saathi and Mere Jeevan Saathi in the 70s.
