Segel ventured into the field of acting in 1998. His first gig was a romantic comedy film Can't Hardly Wait. In the film, he was seen portraying the character of Matt. His first television project was the series Freaks and Geeks. He appeared as Nick Andopolis from 1999 to 2000 in the show.
