Dev is a film actor singer, film writer, producer, and entertainer who mostly appeared in Bengali Cinema and recently is a politician. In 2006 he made his first acting debut with movie 'Agnishapath' but the movie was a big flop. He got many nominations in many awards like Filmfare Awards East 2017 & NABC International Bangla Film Award 2017, Kalakar Awards, Filmfare Awards East, and Tele Cine Awards. After replacing Mithun Chakraborty he became the mentor of Bangla dance reality show named 'Dance Bangla Dance'. He recently joins the politics as a member of parliament. He is the owner of the production house named 'Dev Entertainment Ventures Pvt. Ltd'.

He was born as Deepak Adhikari on 25 December 1982, in Mahisha, a small village near Keshpur, to Gurudas Adhikari and Mousumi Adhikari. His father has food catering service and mother is a house wife. He spent his childhood along with his sister to a maternal uncle in Chandrakona. After moving to Mumbai he joins the Purushottam High School in Bandra. He has done his acting course in the 'Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Academy'. He got a diploma in Computer Engineering from Bharatiya Vidyapeeth University, in Pune.

Recently he won the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections as a Trinamool Congress candidate from Ghatal constituency. After two years of winning the election, he gave a speech in Lock Sabha in the Bengali language.

He started his career with movie 'Agnishapath' in 2006 and directed by Prabir Nandi. this movie was not so successful on box office along with this he got a lead role in the movie 'I love you' directed by Ravi Kinnagi. After that he does not get a role in any movie for 14 months then he decided to go Mumbai and start getting training of dance and trained under fight choreographer Aejaz Gulab. He got popularity in West Bengal after comeback in movie 'Challenge'. He also appeared in item songs like 'Pante Tali' and 'Chirodini Tumi Je Ama' which was very successful. In June 2011, he starred in movie 'Paglu' along with Koel Mallick. In January 2012 he was starred in the 2nd highest grossed movie of Tollywood named 'Khokababu' which was opposite to Subhashree Ganguly and directed by Shankar Aiyya.
