He appeared at summer theaters in Mount Kisco, New York in his starting career. His first broadway appearances were in the short-lived Red, White, and Maddox. He made his film debut as a psychiatric patient in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." He played a starring role in the play "Death of a Salesman" playing the character, Willy Loman.
