His first film role was in the film "Another Country" in which he appeared as James Harcourt, a gay student. He played the title character in the comedy film "Robin Hood: Men in Tights." He played a starring role in the Saw film series as Dr. Lawrence Gordon. He made his small-screen debut with the sitcom "Seinfeld" playing the character David Lookner. He portrayed the young Karol Wojty in the TV film "Pope John Paul II."
