The British actor landed his first on-screen role in a musical comedy movie titled Calling All-Stars released in 1937. Askey made his TV debut in 1952 through a TV movie Bet Your Life in which he played as Arthur Golightly. In 1955, he landed his first role in a TV sitcom as Bill Brown in Love and Kisses. He gained widespread prominence for his various on-screen work in movies and television such as Miss London Ltd. (1943), The Alf Garnett Saga (1972) and more.
