Chandragupta Maurya is remembered as a great ruler and founder of the Mauryan Empire in India. He built a large empire in the Indian subcontinent under the guidance of Chanakya. His grandson Ashoka gained popularity for the spread of Buddhism. He was a follower of Jainism though Ashoka was inspired by Buddhism. His story about how he rose to power after defeating Nanda Empire is always an interesting chapter among historians.
