About Perjuangan Rakyat Jatinegara
Jatinegara Struggle Monument is a monument to give tribute to all the people who contributed to Indonesia's war of independence. It is situated at the intersection of Jl. West Jatinegara and Jl. Urip Sumoharjo at the end of Jl. Matraman. The idea of creating a monument was given by Ali Sadikin then Governor of DKI Jakarta but it was inaugurated by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Tjokropranolo two and a half years later in June 1982. It was designed and constructed by the sculptor Haryadi using cast concrete and gypsum.
