- The palace was constructed in the year 1703 and was designed by architect William Winde.
- Three additional wings were added to the palace in the nineteenth century.
- The palace has over 770 rooms out of which there are 92 offices, 188 staff bedrooms, 78 bathrooms, 19 staterooms, and 52 royal and guest bedrooms. The whole palace covers an area of more than 39 acres.
