Queen Mary was used as a war ship for a brief period to transport goods and war prisoners. Dubbed as the "grey ghost" after painting it grey, it played a significant role guiding the allied forces to victory. In the aftermath of the war, The Queen Mary returned to passenger service.

- The Queen Mary ocean liner has Mary of Teck, consort of George V, like its namesake. It was built by John Brown & Company in Clydebank, Scotland. The Queen Mary made her maiden voyage in the year 1936.

- During the Second World War, it was used as a transport ship for Allied troops carrying almost 810,000 personnel through its journey. It was painted grey for the purpose and came to be known as ?The Grey Ghost?.

- Listed among the "Top 10 most haunted places on Earth" by Time Magazine, the Queen Mary remains a place of much attraction, owing to its history and encounters of alleged paranormal activity.

- During its time as an ocean liner, it hosted a number of infamous people including the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Greta Garbo, Clark Gable, David Niven, Mary Pickford, George and Ira Gershwin, and Winston Churchill to name a few.

- She was also able to survive a collision at sea and was a part of the D-day invasion. With its unmatched speed, Queen Mary has the record of carrying the most people in a floating vessel.

- Numerous reports of ghost sightings and uncanny voices have come to light. The staff has often stated hearing screams or scrapping behind the infamous door of the Engine room. It is said that an 18 year old sailor suffered a tragic death as he was severed in half by the heavy door that he was trapped in. Dressed in a blue sailor uniform, the spirit is said to have been seen wandering the decks before disappearing behind the door.

- The swimming pools of the ship have been in disuse for over three decades. Well, by the guests at least. The staff members have stated seeing the ghosts, of women dressed in the fashion of the 30s swimming suits, wandering the decks near the pool. Others back this story by reporting hearing random splashing noises or unexplained wet footprints from the decks to the changing rooms.

- In the Salon, which was formerly used as a lounge, a young woman, beautifully dressed in a white gown is said to be seen dancing alone to an imaginary quiet orchestra. Unexplained sounds like knocking in the distance, high pitched screams, water running without the source, etc are all too common on the property.
