In the past few episodes of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, it was shown that how
Roohi was married to Rohit despite her immense love for
Armaan . Armaan who was in Mussorie due to a case meets
Abhira and
Akshara. He helps both the ladies from escaping from Yuvraj, but in between the fight, Akshara get shot with a gun. In the hospital room, Abhira and Armaan were forced to get married as a last wish of Akshara.
Both the sisters were married to the brothers on the same day and their life connected with each other from that day. On the one hand. Abhira says to Armaan that she is ready to go with him in his home, but will not continue husband-wife relationship with him. She will leave him the day when she gets a job after completing her law study.
On the other hand, Roohi was welcomed in her in-law's house but fell on the gate due to which the pot filled with rice turned without a single grain spilling on the ground. Rohit and Armaan’s grandmother Mrs. Poddar says that this type of thing brings bad luck in the house.
On the next day, there was some relief when Maa Sa praised Roohi for cooking a delicious on her first day at in-law's house. However, welcome ceremony of Abhira was just opposite. The rituals went well but Abhira was not accepted by Poddar family as their marriage was a shocking surprise for the whoel family.
Abhira was not allowed to sit on the dining table and have food, so she cooked noodles on her own. She made mess in the whole kitchen which was cleared by Roohi later on. Abhira's saree gets unplated while dancing in the Mooh Dikayi ceremony, which made Dadi Sa angry.
Roohi gets ready for the Pagphera ritual to go to her home, but Abhira had no home or anyone to call her from her mom's side. Eventually, she went to Goenka house to complete the ritual. Arriving there, she finds out that she is related to this house. Even though no one knows that she is Akshara's daughter, but Manish Goenka found himself attached to Abhira with a pretty bound. Also at the time of reception when she wore a Himachali dress, Mainish remembered Akshara and called her Akshu. Abhira liked to spend time at Goenka House and loved the food as it remind her the taste of her Mom's cooking.
But Roohi started getting jealous of Abhira. She is afraid that Abhira will take everything from her after Armaan just like Akshara from her mom
Aarohi.
At the time of reception, when Rohit's uncle Advocate Bansal tries to insult Abhira, Manish Goenka interfered which provoked Abhira and she said that even though she has not completed her law degree yet, but she knew it very well that he has no right to speak like this with her Parnanu (Great-grandfather). After listening this, Roohi spoke that he is only her P-Nanu.
Roohi tries to come close to Armaan, but Armaan doesn't like her behavior and warned her that she is now her brother's wife. On the other hand, Abhira and Armaan's bond grew stronger. They became very good friend and started caring for each other.
When Roohi was talking with her B-Nani that she is not able to forget Armaan at the same time, Rohit arrives and hear all the talks. He felt heartbroken. Rohit also listens to the talks of Roohi and Armaan. He calls all the family members, and it seems like he will tell all the reality to the family members. But at the last moment, he says that he forgot what he wanted to tell.
Rohit misbehaved with Armaan which was not liked by Abhira. Also, Roohi ask Armaan to tell all the truth to the family members as he is living under pressure and is sacrificing many lives.
Roohi agrees to go on honeymoon alongside Rohit, Armaan and Abhira which makes Rohit to think that how she get ready for honeymoon but Roohi was thinking that she can't leave Armaan with any girl even though she knew it very well that Abhira and Armaan have no feeling for each other.
Armaan put a bandage on Abhira's mouth to keep her quite, but at the same time, police came into the house and arrested Armaan. Everyone was surprised and asked what he has done and why police came to arrest him. Abhira was going with Armaan holding his shirt. At the same time, all the cops starated dancing and Dadi Sa says "Happy New Year". It was the surprise plan of Dadi Sa to make everyone in the house smile on the New Year eve.
Rohit left the Poddar house just after the New Year celebration and once again Abhira was blamed for the disappearance. Dadi Sa took Akshara's box to blackmail Abhira so that she would bring back Rohit. Abhira beg to return last thing of her mother. Also, other family members requested Dadi Sa to be kind with Abhira.
Following the Rohit's disaapearance, Roohi realised her mistake for not giving that respect and love to Rohit what he deserves as a husband. When the news came that Rohit is coming back, it made Roohi felt happy. She was anxiously waiting for him but at the same time, she heard Abhira and Armaan talking that Rohit's car met an accident and police is trying to find him.
Following Rohit's death Abhira maturly took over responsibilities of taking care of whole Poddar family. All the family was in great shock but Abhira tries to make them smile. Rohit and Abhira were not allowed to attend the pooja organised for the well being of Rohit as they went to see Manish Goenka who was in ICU at the time. Manish Goenka came to Poddar house to take back Roohi but Dadi Sa insisted on sending her back. Roohi consumes sleeping pills to kill herself but Abhira supported her to stay strong in this situation of life.
Roohi is eagerly waiting for Abhira and Armaan's divorce, she also handled divorce papers to Armaan so that he may easily get divorce from Abhira. Meanwhile Abhira fell for Armaan. She want to continue her relationship with Armaan for the lifetime and fans are waiting for Armaan's decision that whom he will choose. Roohi want to take attention of Armaan and so is Abhira. In the ghanghor festival, Abhira gives clay to Roohi so that she can also complete the idol but Armaan who was aware of the fact bring some more clay for Abhira.
