Got7 is a popular South Korean boy band which debuted in early 2014 with their EP titled “Got It?” As the name suggests, the group consisted of seven members Jay B, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom. The band was founded by JYP Entertainment but they left JYP after their contract expired in January 2021. Their first single “Girls Girls Girls” was released four days before the release of EP. Their debut EP was at the number two on the Gaon Album Chart while topped on Billboard's World Albums Chart. They became popular with their live performances which include martial arts tricks and street dancing. The group became fan favourite with the single like Just Right, and Around the World while gained success in Japan with the albums such as Moriagatteyo.

Cast


Jay B


Jay B joined the cast after passing an open audition, beating ten thousand applicants in 2009. Prior to the group’s debut, he joined the cast of “Dream High 2” in 2011. He released a single album “Bounce” in collaboration with Jinyoung in May 2012. Mark Tuan


Mark was scouted by JYP scouts in Los Angeles, USA. Prior to the group debut, he made a cameo in the first episode of Dream High 2. He made his best contribution in the group activities since the group debuted with the EP “Got It?” He is credited of rapping and lyrics of five out of thirteen songs from the album “Flight Log: Turbulence.” His debut solo song “OMW” was released in 2018. He wrote the lyrics of twenty songs of the group until December 2021. Jackson


Jackson became a member of the group after passing the JYP’s overseas audition in Hong Kong ranking first out of two thousand applicants. His training started in summer of 2011. He appeared on the reality survival program Win: Who Is Next prior to group debut. He rose to prominence with the group’s debut with the single “Girls Girls Girls.” His solo career started in 2017 and his first solo album “Mirrors” was released in 2019. Read More...

Jinyoung


Jinyoung joined JYP after passing an open audition alongside fellow group member Jay B where both of them were selected from over ten thousand applicants. He was selected for a role in television series “Dream High 2” prior to making debut with the group. He founded a duo named JJ Project alongside Jay B and they released their single album “Bounce.” The group debuted in January 2014 where Park was a vocalist. Youngjae


After passing a closed audition, Youngjae was selected by JYP Entertainment as a trainee. He became the main vocalist of the group following a seven months training. The group debuted with the single “Girls Girls Girls” on 16 January 2014 and released its debut EP “Got It?” after four days. His first credit as a songwriter and lyricist was “Rewind.” His solo debut was EP “Colors from Arts.” He signed with Sublime Artist Agency after the expiration of his contract with JYP. Read More...

BamBam


He was just 13 years old when he auditioned for the JYP Entertainment and shifted to South Korea for training. He appeared in the reality-survival program “Win: Who Is Next” before group debut. The group released its first song “Girls Girls Girls” in 2014. He produced the lyric video of the song “You Are” from the group’s album “7 for 7.” His first solo EP “Ribbon” was released in June 2021. Yugyeom


He joined JYP after passing an audition in 2011. Prior to making his debut with the group, he participated in the reality survival program “Win: Who Is Next.” He debuted with the boy group “Got7” in January 2014. Yugyeom is also a part of duo subunit Jus2. He signed with AOMG following the expiration of his contract with JYP in January 2021. Read More...

Interesting Facts About the Group


  • Yugyeom was jealous of BamBam as he was cute and short while BamBam was jealous of him for the opposite reason as Yugyeom was tall and manly. They used to fight a lot when they were trainee.
  • No one from the group renew the contract with JYP after it expired on January 19, 2021.
  • Though the group is popular for martial art tricks but they got many injuries due to this. Eventually, they changed the concept.
  • Their fans are known as Ahgase. It was due to Mark pronounced the group’s name as ““ah-ee gaht se-beun“ and it was shortened as Ahgase for ease.
  • Monsta X’s Shownu was selected as a trainee but he left the label due to less training. When he left the company, his fellow member Jinyoung cried for being departed.
  • BamBam is now more a restaurant owner than that of being a K-pop idol. Sources says, he owns a Korean restaurant chain with over fifty restaurants in Thailand.
  • During training Jay B once bumped his head and got seriously injured. He lost his memory for a brief period but recovered later on.
