Career of Abebe Bikila

The Ethiopian runner was started running in professional races in the Ethiopian Armed Forces championship in 1956. He won the marathon twice in Addis Ababa in 1960 and makes a path for the Olympics.

Bikila became won a gold medal in the marathon at the 1960 Summer Olympics and became Africa's first black gold medalist.

After a recovery in 1970, he started training for wheelchair-athlete archery competitions.
