Some Lesser Known Facts About Marie Curie
- Her mother was a devout Catholic and her father was an atheist. When her mother died she gives up the Catholicism and accepts the agnostic.
- At that time women do not get the higher education so she made deal with her sister that she will help financially to her sister, Bronisława for her medical studies in Paris but after 2 years or completing studies, she should return her favor. So she worked as governess, and tutor for two years.
- In the starting of 1890, she was invited by her sister to Paris but she refuses due to financial problem. Later she moved to her father's house and worked as a governess and was there up to 1891.
- In 1891 when she moved to Paris she was so poor at that time and sometimes she gets fainted due to hunger.
- She made a discovery that the atoms can be divided.
- She was the first women who got the Nobel prize in December 1903. The committee doesn't want that she got a prize but her husband help her and she was nominated for the prize. With the prize money, she got her first lab assistant.also the first woman to become a professor at the University of Paris.
She is also only woman and only person who wins the noble prize in two different sciences.
