Career of Thomas S. Monson
He became an LDS bishop in 1950 and served there for five years. In 1955, he became a counselor to Percy K. Fetzer in the presidency of the Salt Lake Temple. In 1959, he became president of the church's Canadian Mission. In 1963, he became a part of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
