Tommy Johnson is one of the most underrated rock guitarist in the world, in my opinion. His playing in the Doobie Brothers borders on lengendary. He was also a great vocalist for the band. To me, The Doobie Brothers were at the peak of their functionality as a band with Tommy Johnson. I can't say that for Michael McDonalds entry into the band. It became too whiney for me and lost all of it's punch. Tom Johnson will always be one of my guitar mentors of all times. I've been playing electric guitar for 55 years, I learned a lot from listening to him.
