Career of Eric Clapton
He joined the "Yardbirds", a blues-influenced rock, and roll band in October 1963. He first appeared at the Royal Albert Hall, London in December 1964 with his band Yardbirds. Since then he performed there over 200 times. He joined the band Cream in July 1966.

- Is Eric Clapton in the habit of Smoking? No. He fell in the grip of heroin addiction because of the loss he went through from the break up of The Dominos band and the commercial failure of the Layla album. After three years he quit his drug addiction and relaunched his career with two concerts.
- He was an illegitimate child of a Canadian soldier Edward Walter Fryer who was stationed in England during the Second World War and went back to his wife before Eric's birth. He was raised by his maternal grandparents and he grew up thinking that his grandparents are his parents.
- His grandparents were a pianist, his grandfather also played piano in several dance bands in the Surrey area. His interest in music came from his rearing.
- He was nine when he came to know the truth of his parentage by his mother.
- Before putting a step in music career he worked as a laborer at building sites along with his grandfather, a master bricklayer, and plasterer to support himself.
- He had opened a rehabilitation center for drug and alcohol abuse on the island of Antigua. The organization provides subsidized care who can not afford such care on their own.
- He established a foundation for some of the poorest people of the Caribbean and auctioned 100 of his guitars at Christie's Auction House / New York and gathered almost $5 million (US) for the foundation.
- He also hosted a concert to benefit the Centre at New York City's Madison Square Garden on 30 June 1999 and the First Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas, Texas on 4, 5 and 6 June 2004 for the benefit of center.

- He also had a son with actress Lori del Santo but he died after falling from a window in his mother's apartment in New York City on 20 March 1991. His death was the inspiration for Clapton's song, "Tears in Heaven".

- He made a contribution of a song to "Aid Still Required's" CD to help in the restoration of the devastation done to Southeast Asia from the 2004 tsunami.

Once he, Sean Connery, Burgess Meredith were drunk and started throwing the pie on each other's faces which by mistake they hit MacLaine on both the sides of her face. She remained angry with him for months after the show.
