About Merry Anders
Merry Anders real name Mary Helen Anderson was born in Chicago, Illinois, the U.S. on May 22, 1934, in the house of a contractor Charles Anderson and the name of her mother was Helen Anderson. She was educated at John Burroughs Middle School. On 22 March 1955, she married John G. Stephens and the couple divorced on 24 June 1957 after having one child. After that, she was married to Richard David Benedict on 21 September 1985 and he died on 17 May 1999. She died at the age of 78 in Encino, California, the U.S. on October 28, 2012.

Career of Merry Anders
She started modeling as a junior model with the inspiration of actress Rita Leroy and side by side she studied acting in Ben Bard Playhouse and from there she got her first break in musical Golden Girl in 1951. She worked in films as well as television.

Films


She got small and uncredited roles in her initial two years in the films like Belles on Their Toes, How to Marry a Millionaire, Titanic etc. In 1955, she performed as Mary Ann in All That Heaven Allows. There is a huge rise in her career with eight films in 1957 as Amy Hansen in The Night Runner, as Cathy in Desk Set, Marti Collins in Calypso Heat Wave and worked in No Time to Be Young as Gloria Stuben, Escape from San Quentin as Robbie, Death in Small Doses as Amy "Miss Diesel of 1958" Phillips, Hear Me Good as Ruth Collins, The Dalton Girls as Holly Dalton. She was Carrie in the film Violent Road which was released in 1958. In 1960, she had worked in five films like Young Jesse James, Spring Affair, Five Bold Women. Also in 1961, her performance was seen in five films such as Secret of Deep Harbor, The Gambler Wore a Gun,20,000 Eyes. She was Mary in Patty, Sybil in Beauty and the Beast and was Mona Whitney in Air Patrol all three films were released in 1962. In 1963, she worked in FBI Code 98 as Grace McLean, House of the Damned as Nancy Campbell, Police Nurse as Joan Olson. In 1964, her admirable performance was seen in the films like Raiders From Beneath The Sea, Young Fury, A Tiger Walks etc. In 1965, she worked in Tickle Me as Estelle Penfield. She was Mrs. Burt Ball in the film Airport which was released in 1970. Her last film was Will to Die as Laura Dean.

She had also given her remarkable performances in television. In 1954, she acts in the episode "The Last Appeal" of The Public Defender as Agnes Fay, with various roles in 2 episodes of The Ford Television Theatre, she had performed for the recurring role of Joyce Erwin in 26 episodes of The Stu Erwin Show. She was Sally in the episode "Honeymoon in Mexico" of TV Reader's Digest in 1955 also in the same year she worked in 5 episodes of It's Always Jan as Val Marlowe and in 2 episodes of The Loretta Young Show. In 1956, her role was of Helen Forrester in the episode "The Jay Powers Story" of The Millionaire. The following year she worked in the episode "Smoke Signal" of Broken Arrow as Amy Breece and in 52 episodes of How to Marry a Millionaire as Mike McCall, performed many roles in Sugarfoot and Cheyenne. She was Lucy Hamilton in the "Man on a Raft" episode of Decision. Also, she had worked in 5 episodes of 77 Sunset Strip. She worked in 5 TV series like Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer, Richard Diamond, Private Detective, Tales of Wells Fargo in 1959. In 1960, her performance was seen in Bonanza as Virginia Keith also worked in Bronco, The Case of the Dangerous Robin, Maverick, Hawaiian Eye in the same year. She worked in Michael Shayne, Ichabod and Me, Surfside 6 in 1961. She performed as Barbara in the episode "Tiger By the Tail" of Straightaway in 1962. I was watching an old flick that she was in ( The Walking Target ). Played the scheming girlfriend of the main character. She was smoking hot. Gorgeous shape in those early 1960's skin-tight, knee-length dresses. Just a beautiful woman.
