Suman joined the acting industry in 1977. He appeared in Tamil films Neechal Kulam, and Veetukku Veedu Vasapadi. He worked in over a hundred and fifty Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada films. He appeared as the main antagonist in the Hindi film "Gabbar is Back." He played the character Dhananjay in the Malayalam film "Ram."
