Career of R. G. Armstrong
He started his acting career with a small role in the film Garden of Eden in 1954. He had the guest appearance in various TV series in the 50s and 60s Have Gun - Will Travel, The Californians, Wanted: Dead or Alive, The Westerner is some of them. He appeared in the episode "The Giant Killer" of the ABC/Warner Brothers western series Sugarfoot on March 3, 1959. He was Lou Stoner in it. He was Sam Jarrad in the episode "License to Kill" of NBC's Laramie on November 22, 1960. He guest appeared in "The Return of Mr. Grimm" of the ABC/WB western series Cheyenne. His character was Nathanael Grimm who was a wealthy person and searching for Sheriff Cheyenne Bodie. His wonderful performance was seen in the episode "Nothing in the Dark" of The Twilight Zone. He was Harry Bright in "The Case of the Petulant Partner," in 1959. He was John Gregory in "The Case of the Stand-in Sister." He also performed in famous shows like Hawaii Five-O, The Andy Griffith Show, The Fugitive. In the second season of Millennium, he had a recurring role of an old man. In Canadian horror series Friday the 13th: The Series, he played the role of "Uncle Lewis Vendredi".

Films


He met writer/director Sam Peckinpah in 1960 and work in his films like Ride the High Country in 1962, Major Dundee in 1965, The Ballad of Cable Hogue in 1970, and in Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid in 1973.
He also appeared in films which are not Peckinpah's work. He was a sympathetic rancher in El Dorado in 1966. In 1970, he appeared in The Great White Hope as Cap'n Dan and was Clell Miller in The Great Northfield Minnesota Raid in 1972. He was a bumbling outlaw in the film My Name is Nobody which was released in 1973. Race with the Devil in 1975, The Car in 1977. He was General Phillips in the movie Predator in 1987. He played the role of Pruneface in Dick Tracy in 1990.

After retiring from screen work he started working in Off-Broadways theatre but retired from there in 2005 as he was suffering from cataracts in which a patient can't see nearby things.
